Is Aluminum Foil Dangerous For Your Health?

A couple of days ago, Shaina Kamman a Strategic Nutritionist from Super Simple Nutrition held an educational seminar where a group us ate, learned healthy eating snippets and fabulous healthy eating tips.

Shaina began the nutritional seminar by preparing a Salmon Recipe. We all quickly noticed that she lined the metal trays with parchment paper.

One lady raised her hand and asked why she was using Parchment paper instead of aluminum foil? And then inquired,

“Is Cooking With Aluminum Foil Dangerous?”

Without, hesitation Shaina said, Yes. People should not cook or wrap their food with Aluminum Foil.

The woman replied, “So, Is Aluminum Foil Dangerous To Your Health?”

Shaina, promptly nodded her head up and down as she answered, yes!

Shaina went on to share with us that we should line your trays with parchment paper, wrap your food in parchment paper and you should only use Aluminum Foil to tent food on top of  parchment paper.

The Strategic Nutritionist continued to provide alarming information about cooking with Aluminum Foil:
Studies Aluminum show that chronic exposure is a factor in many neurological diseases.

These diseases include:

  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Dementia
  • Autism

Aluminum goes straight to your brain and may cause brain inflammation.

Surprisingly numerous everyday products contain aluminum such as;

  • Toothpaste containing aluminum oxyhydroxide
  • Antiperspirants containing aluminum chloride

  • Aluminum laminated pouch drink pouches- the drink pouches so many young people enjoy

  • Silica-rich water, each liter contains approximately 83 Mg of silica, e.g. Fiji water.

Research published in 2013 showed that drinking up to one liter of a silicon-rich mineral water daily for 12 weeks effectively excreted aluminum via the urine, without detrimental effects on essential metals such as iron and copper.

According to the study: “We have provided preliminary evidence that over 12 weeks of silicon-rich mineral water therapy the body burden of aluminum fell in individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and, concomitantly, cognitive performance showed clinically relevant improvements in at least 3 out of 15 individuals.”

Aluminium is significantly more likely to leach into food, and at higher levels, in acidic and liquid food solutions like lemon and tomato juice than in those containing alcohol or salt. Leaching levels climb even more when

Leaching levels climb when spices are added to food that is cooked in aluminum foil. All acidic foods spark an aggressive process that dissolves layers of aluminum into food.

According to a 2006 study, cooking meat in aluminum foil increased aluminum levels as follows:

  • 10 Red meats cooked in aluminum foil showed an increase in aluminum by 89 to 378 percent
  • Poultry increased by 76 to 214 percent Aluminum levels increased with higher cooking temperatures

In addition, Aluminum can be found in such drugs as:

  • Antacids
  • Analgesics
  • Anti-diarrheals

  • Hepatitis A and B,
  • DTaP (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis)
  • pneumococcal vaccine
  • Gardasil (HPV)

Aluminum Heads Straight to Your Brain

Aluminum is to your central nervous system as cigarette smoke is to your lungs.

Aluminum Foil Can Contribute To Brain Inflammation!

Scientists are clear that toxic metals damage, brain tissue and lead to degenerative disease. The damage to the brain tissue occurs by the oxidate stress from the aluminum.

The scientific data screams; Stay Away From Aluminum Foil!

So, thank you Shaina Kammen for making me aware of the dangers of aluminum foil. I also learned some other wonderful health tidbits that I will share in future HypoGal Blog posts.

I hope this answers the question, Is Aluminum Foil Dangerous To Your Health?
