Where Is The Pituitary Gland aka Master Gland?

The pituitary gland is a tiny pea sized organ located behind the bridge of the nose and near the base of the brain.

What Is The Function of the Pituitary Gland?

The Pituitary Gland plays a vital role in our Endocrine system by signaling hormones to be released to other parts of our body. The signals released by the Pituitary Gland stimulate most of the other hormone producing gland to produce/ release the hormones our body needs.

What Are The Main Hormones of the Pituitary Gland? 

The main hormones produced by the pituitary are:

ACTH – adrenocorticotropic hormone    TSH – thyroid-stimulating hormone

ADH – anti-diuretic hormone, or vasopressin  FSH – follicle-stimulating hormone    

 GH – growth hormone   LH – luteinizing hormone    PRL – prolactin
